Demetrius applied and was awarded the MAPS scholarship while studying 12th grade at Redeemer Lutheran School in Penn Hills. Demetrius originally applied in the fall knowing he wanted to study architecture at Carnegie Mellon University upon graduating high school in two years, but Demetrius did not have a clearly identified program for what he wished to apply a scholarship toward in the short term.

In reflecting on his journey through MAPS scholarship process, Demetrius shared, that “MAPS made introductions and connections that opened doors to opportunities in the field of architecture, that otherwise might not have been available to me. I am genuinely thankful for Mr. Cheung, who mentored and guided me every step of the way.”
